cut 5 inch square of white

cut patterned strips 1 to 1-1/2 inches wide but at leas 8 inches long. A variation in the width is desirable.

sew bottom strip at angle, finger press down

sew first right strip at slight angle

finger press out

sew second bottom strip

trim strip

sew second strip on right side

trim second strip on right side

Sew strip along left side

iron square flat

iron prints away from white

Trim to square blocks to 7 inches

A finished block of 7 inches
